If you keep a few basic things in mind, you won't have any trouble finding the right used guitar amp. After all, it is your hard earned money, and you want to make certain the money you are saving over a new model gets you the right amp for you.

You want to make sure that the amplifier you're going to buy functions well with the instrument you're going to use it with. Just as every guitar has its individual sound or tone, so does every amplifier unit. While you can easily plug your guitar into any amp and obtain an amplified sound, you want an amp explicitly made for a guitar. Do your homework, because you don't want to end up purchasing a bass amp or keyboard amp.

You'll notice that used guitar amps can be obtained for a great price. There are many people that believed that learning to play a guitar was for them. They went out and bought all kinds of new gear which included a high-priced amp that the music shop sales associate convinced them into buying. Then, as it happens frequently, the individual determines that playing the guitar is not as simple as it looked and they discontinue playing. This individual sooner or later sells all of the equipment at a bargain price.

A pawn shop is another place to obtain used guitar amps. This is one of the first places a person will look to unload that amp that never gets used and cost them a fortune in the first place. Check out a local pawn shop and take your time trying out all the amps, for your patience will pay off when you find that one gem. If you can't locate one to fit your demands, don't hesitate to visit another pawn shop.

Another good source of used guitar amps is a music store. They have a history of purchasing back those expensive, hardly used amplifiers from the very person they sold it to originally for a huge discount. They will still try to sell it close to the original price when it was new, but with some solid negotiating, you can end up with it at a great price. Plus, the amplifier is usually in mint condition because the original owner quit early on attempting to learn how to play a guitar.

The last resource, and likely the best, for finding used guitar amps is the internet. There are umpteen websites, such as CraigsList and others with a lot of sellers. Ebay and other auction type sites normally have more than enough listings. You will not run out of sites on the web to locate that amp you're searching for. You will not be able to in reality see or try out the amplifier, and that is really the only problem with this method. Just make sure to have it where you can return the amp for your money if everything is not okay.
